History/Timeline: Garnet's real mother died while she was still a small toddler, aside from dark hair and a soft embrace she has no memories of her. She has no idea who her father is either. Yet she was still taken in by a kindly widow who served right under the tribe's chief, who raised her as if she were her own daughter.

Yet, at five years of age Garnet was involved in an accident that broke her horn down to the base. Lying sick with fever for many days; she against all hope, managed to recover. To this day she has a habit of rubbing the rough and hard skin under her hair where her horn used to be. Taken as a sign, she was enrolled under the priestess's. At age twelve she completed the required training and was assigned to guard one of nine forbidden summon materia's. In order to celebrate this her stepmother passed on the family heirloom-a Wind materia to her.

At the same time the aging Queen took an interest in Garnet and began instructing her, grooming her to be her successor--a Princess-to-be. She is on the verge of being named a Princess. Garnet has devoted herself to learning all she can so that if she is named Princess, she will be able to be a good one. The people already have tremendous respect for the girl, and some already secretly call her “Princess Garnet”.

She is involved in the Resistance movement; but she is amongst those who believes that peace between The People-From-The-Sky/City-dwellers and them. She feels that they are people—different from them, but people, and that if they try to exterminate them, then they are proving themselves to be no better.

Personality: Garnet's a very understanding person; she likes to know different people and places, she likes to know why people do the things that they do, and she doesn't blame people or become annoyed with them for being upset or angry at times. She is a very kind, devoted, and caring young woman and is always wanting to help other people. She's also very determined; once she sets her mind to something, almost nothing can hold her back.
